The United Nations Ocean Conference 2025 (UNOC3) is being held in Nice from 9 to 13 June and focuses on the theme “Accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean”.
Its diverse agenda covers the High Seas Treaty, marine protection, ocean finance and the Nice Action Plan for the Oceans, and provides a strategic platform for SIDS to amplify their voice on the global stage and mobilise support for ocean resilience. Collaborative commitments and voluntary pledges from governments, civil society and private institutions highlight the potential of UNOC3 to unlock targeted partnerships and funding tailored to the specific needs of island nations.
