IMPROVING THE MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABLE USE OF MARINE AND COASTAL RESOURCES OF SMALL ISLAND DEVELOPING STATES

New analysis and regional action are helping to strengthen the discussion on sustainable blue development in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

A recent publication by the Back to Blue Initiative examines how regional delivery frameworks can support access to finance for SIDS, with a focus on the conditions needed to turn blue development priorities into practical and investable action. 

At the same time, the OECS 30x30 initiative is advancing a coordinated regional approach to biodiversity protection, ecosystem restoration and sustainable financing in the Eastern Caribbean. The programme supports OECS Member States in working towards global biodiversity targets through action on marine and coastal conservation, land-use planning, sustainable finance and nature-positive economic development.
